Rising like a colossal island from the sun-scorched African savanna, Mount Kilimanjaro is a world of impossible contrasts. This isn’t just a mountain; it’s a stratovolcanic marvel that defies the geography of the Equator. Standing just 250 miles south of the heat of the central line, its jagged, glacier-clad summit pierces the sky at 19,341 feet, dominating the horizon for thousands of square miles.
The true magic of the Kilimanjaro expedition lies in its extraordinary ecological odyssey. In the span of a single week, you will journey through five distinct worlds:
- The Rainforest: Begin in lush, emerald canopies teeming with exotic birds and Colobus monkeys.
- The Moorlands: Traverse surreal, sub-alpine grasslands dotted with prehistoric giant groundsels.
- The Alpine Desert: Trek through a stark, high-altitude moonscape dominated by volcanic cliffs.
- The Arctic Summit: Finish your journey amidst massive, shimmering glaciers that have crowned this peak for millennia.
As the highest free-standing mountain on Earth, Kilimanjaro offers a visual impact that is absolute and unmatched. There are no surrounding ranges to block your view—just you, the “Roof of Africa,” and a 360-degree panorama of the world below.

Our expedition is an enjoyable, non-technical climb that encompasses expansive views across Africa, passage through diverse cultural areas and ecosystems, and an optional safari through nearby National Parks. Porters, cooks, and local guides accompany the group, allowing you to focus solely on the experience.
The Kilimanjaro trek to the summit and back down is ten days long (including the arrival and departure days), with the safari adding four additional days.
The safari includes travel through Lake Manyara National Park, the wonders of the Serengeti, Rift Valley, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the market of Mto Wa Mbu where local Maasai sell their traditional crafts.
In terms of wildlife, we see both resident and migratory species including many varieties of birds and a full range of large African mammals. The game viewing is some of the best on the continent.
