Oceania Programs

Oceania encompasses the vast array of over 10,000 islands of the South Pacific, including the continent of Australia, and New Zealand. While not typically the first places that come to mind with you think of mountaineering and climbing, there are significant ascents to be made. Puncak Jaya (Carstensz Pyramid) is the highest point in the region, rising to 16,024′ (4,884m) from the island of New Guinea. The Southern Alps range of New Zealand spans over 500 km and contains numerous opportunities for technical climbing and glacier mountaineering with a ruggedness similar to that which is found in many of the larger ranges of the world.
