Ryan Mercado

Ryan has called many places across Germany and the United States home but settled in Tacoma in 2019. Ryan’s love for the outdoors began early in life with family hikes in the Alps. He began snowboarding while in high school in Vermont but made the jump to skis once moving to Washington. He is an avid rock and ice climber, trail runner, and can often be found making trips to Canada to pursue those passions. After taking a glacier travel course, Ryan found the desire to educate in those spaces. Since that course, Ryan’s passion for sharing knowledge of the outdoors and risk management have grown. He has followed that passion by seeking out intuitional knowledge through AIARE and AMGA courses. He is an Apprentice Ski, Rock and Alpine Guide, a Wilderness EMT, and an AIARE Instructor. Ryan is also a member of Seattle Mountain Rescue and Mount Rainer Nordic Patrol.
