Mike Powers

Michael oversees the training and continuing education of climbing, mountaineering and ski guides at the Institute and manages the annual three-week guide training program. He has led programs in the Cascades, Ouray, Joshua Tree, Red Rock, Alaska, Canada, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, and Switzerland. He is an IFMGA certified guide and has completed numerous rock and ice routes at a high standard in Switzerland, New Zealand, Nepal, Alaska, and the western U.S. He has also served as chairman of the AMGA Technical Committee and director of America’s national guide certification program.
