Mike grew up on the flat plains of South Dakota we he learned to climb on the rose quartzite close to his home in 2007. After a 2011 NOLS Himalayan Mountaineering course, Mike was hooked. “I was raised in the farmlands of South Dakota,” says Mike, “and braised in the rains of the Cascade Mountains of Washington.” Mike currently guides in the Cascades, and runs AAI’s Petzl PPE program. Mike considers himself a lifelong learner of the vertical world. Mike was AAI Shop Manager from 2022-2026.
