Curriculum

Once a climber has the fundamental knowledge of belaying and movement skills, it isn’t long before the taller walls and peaks start to catch their interest. With the backdrop of the beautiful granite walls of Squamish, British Columbia as your classroom, we’ll combine many of the skills from our Learn To Lead Course with guided practice and oversight by a qualified instructor. You’ll build your skills in anchor construction, leading techniques, and multi-pitch efficiency, then go climb a series of classic multi-pitch climbs rising high above the Howe Sound.

Details

Prerequisites

  • Overnight backpacking experience
  • Ability to cook for yourself on a backpacking stove
  • Familiarity with the basics of single-pitch rock climbing, including knots and hitches, belaying, rappelling, and basic climbing movement
  • Experience with outdoor top-roped climbing
  • Ability to follow 5.8 outdoors
  • Good physical fitness

Travel Details

  • Due to international labor and trade laws, participants in this course must start and finish in the United States. Participants will meet at our headquarters in Bellingham, WA and cross the border together with the trip leader.
  • Participants must have valid documentation for traveling into Canada, as well as a clean background check
  • We are not allowed to have Canadian citizens participate in this program
