According to SnowBrains, “Timberline Lodge announced an explanation for increased prices, citing the state’s broken recreational liability system, which has made it difficult for insurers to operate. The resort has secured new coverage for the upcoming ski season, but at a substantial cost. Liability premiums have risen 166% this year, deductibles are ten times higher, and overall insurance costs have increased 586% since 2020. As a result, Timberline will need to raise some prices, including peak lift tickets and certain season passes, while trying to absorb as much of the financial burden as possible. The resort is urging Oregonians to support liability reform, warning that without change, outdoor recreation across the state will face higher costs, reduced access, and lasting harm to local communities.”
