Update Received: June 22, 2014. 11:25am PST. Richard re-caps the last few days of the expedition. While waiting in Base Camp to fly out, thunder clouds began moving in. Around 4:40 pm on the 17th, one plane was able to fly in during breaks in the weather take 8 of the 11 team members and guides out. Richard, Andy and John volunteered to stay behind and wait for more room on a second plane. However, they did not know how long the wait could be. The three of them hunkered down expecting to spend some quality time at Base Camp. Luckily, another plane was able to make it back around 8:00pm and pick them up as well. The next morning everyone had one last breakfast together in Talkeetna and then all pitched in to help each other move on to their departure destinations.
Team 5 wants to thank everyone for following their journey. Richard hopes to get some photos of the trip posted to the dispatch pages as well.
