Index is one of the premier rock climbing areas in Washington state. The easily accessed, Yosemite-like granite walls rise dramatically above the lush Skykomish River valley and provide steep, varied climbing on hundreds of routes. Because it lies on the west side of the Cascades it remains cool in the heat of the summer, when the temperatures on the east side of the Cascades climb past 90 degrees and the rocks of Leavenworth become uncomfortably hot. Climbers welcome the refuge offered in the cooler shade of Index and the challenge presented by the numerous high quality routes. The Upper and Lower Index Town Walls offer the highest concentration of routes and can become crowded due to Index's close proximity to Seattle. However, our experienced guides know where to find the hidden gems amongst the numerous crags, walls, and slabs to help you escape the crowds and have a phenomenal day of climbing. We are confident that after a climbing trip to Index you will leave with both tired arms and the curious inability to stop smiling.
Private Rock Climbing
It is easy to arrange a trip for yourself or a group of friends. Such a trip can be a series of climbs, a skills course concluding with an ascent, or a trip that combines skills development or review with exciting series of ascents. And if you are coming on your own but would like to climb with others, you can request that we match you with other climbers of similar background and interest. Fees are based on the ratio of climbers to guide. Please call or e-mail us to set up a climb or design an itinerary.
