Information Ski Mountaineering

Little Switzerland has become a training ground for serious ski mountaineers. Intermediate and advanced ski and splitboard objectives can be found in every direction.

The real value of skiing or climbing in this area of Denali National Park, is that you operate out of a lush basecamp and do not have to move camp. This affords backcountry enthusiasts with significantly more time on the snow playing and learning, instead of trekking to new camps.

Ski programs will include mountain instruction on the following topics:

  • Avalanche Awareness
  • Terrain Evaluation
  • Track Setting
  • Roped Glacier Travel
  • Unroped Ski and Splitboard Descents
  • Ski/Splitboard Crevasse Rescue Techniques
