Tom Kirby
Tom manages information technology for the Institute and assists with marketing strategy, tools, and analytics. He has guided for AAI in the Cascades, the Southwest, and Alaska, the latter including expeditions to Denali and the St. Elias range. Tom has been climbing since he was a teenager, first on top-rope crags in Virginia and Maryland, then in West Virginia and New England, and eventually all over the western U.S., including the Colorado Front Range, Utah’s Castle Valley, Wyoming’s Tetons and Wind Rivers, and Washington’s Cascades; and in the New Zealand Southern Alps.
Before joining AAI, Tom worked in a variety of roles in education, publishing, software development, corporate training, and the outdoor industry. He has also worked on construction jobs for the U.S. Antarctic Program at McMurdo Station and Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. He has a BA in English literature.
